About us
Introduction
The Kumud Memorial fund is the Public Charitable Trust founded in the year 1967 exclusively to cater the Educational needs of the society.
The Trust is running since 1968, a full fledged Marathi Medium school having all classes from K.G to S.S.C. in a huge School Bldg on their own plot of land at Deonar, Mumbai 400 088.
The Academic Performance is very high to the entire Satisfaction of parents – students citizens and Education officers. All sections are well equipped with almost all modern Amenities.
At the pressing demand of the Time, the Management of the Trust opened English Medium School viz KUMUD VIDYAMANDIR ENGLISH SCHOOL at Sambhajinagar, Govandi (E), Mumbai – 400 043 in 2006. The Mumbai Muncipal Corporation allotted a piece of land on Lease Basis to Kumud Memorial Fund for carrying on Educational Activities.
Initially a working shed was put up and later gradually New School Bldg Construction Project was undertaken and It is completed with 10000 sqft Built up area approx. Now from 1st June 2012 the complete premises is under the possesion of Only Kumud Memorial Fund and only One Authorised School Viz Kumud Vidyamandir English School.
We are proud to mention that the Trustees of Kumud Memorial fund are well known for well organised Educational Activities, with emphasis on high Standard. Discipline and Transparency.
At present there are almost 2000 students on rolls from Jr. K.G. to S.S.C. in our English Medium School, For maintaining high standard of Education, Number
of Students in each class should be less than fifty. Admissions for K.G. Class are given as per provision in the R.T.E. 2009, Strictly by lottery System. In the ensuing years we will try to do so. Parents and citizens should co-operate. From the academic year 2024-25 we have THREE CLASSES of each standard for maintaining High Standard.
According to state Govt Policy our school will be permanently run on Unaided Basis Hence we will have to depend on revenue out of Tuition Fees and Charity from the citizens. The Trustees of the Kumud Memorial Fund will try their level best to seek monetary assistance from Various Trusts and Individuals by legitimate clean and Transparent transactions. The Donations given to our Institute are exempted from Income Tax under section 80-G. Official receipt be given immediately.
As per our commitment, we have a rich Library, well-equipped Science Laboratory, Computer Lab, E-Room, Audio- Visual Learning Tools. All sections are well equipped with all modern Amenities.
The Academic performance is very high to the entire satisfaction of parents- students-citizens & Education officers.
All Students. Parents and teachers are expected to concentrate only on their studies. Practical Suggestions from all will be highly appreciated.
Parents are requested to speak in English with their wards. Students Should get maximum opportunities to hear the English language.

History and Legacy
The history of Kumud Vidyamandir is a continuous tradition of quality education and community service
Kumud Vidyamandir was established on June 9, 1968, by the renowned cricketer Late Vijay Merchant. Initially, the school started with 2 primary and 4 secondary classes in Mankhurd, with a student count of 400. The journey of building the school began with a leased plot from BARC in 1975, moving towards the final site for the school’s construction. On January 9, 2021, a groundbreaking ceremony for a new G+5 storied building was conducted by alumnus Mr. Sunand Manerikar, marking the reconstruction of the 44-year-old structure. The school now accommodates 43 sections across pre-primary, primary, and secondary levels, with 2,460 students enrolled. Despite the high demand, many admissions have to be declined due to space constraints.
Kumud Vidyamandir has earned a reputation as a “quality and activity oriented school” in the suburban areas of Greater Mumbai. The school operates with transparency, consistently achieving SSC results of 99% and above. The first two principals, Mr. Sharad Patil and Mrs. Meena Patil, were recipients of the state-level Ideal Teacher Award. The institution’s motto is “Tethe Kar Maze Julati”.
